Hakbong Head House is the ancestral home to Hakbong Kim Sungil.
Hakbong took over the scholars of Toegye as the best pupil of Toegye. Hakbong took the supreme command of the Grand Battle of Jinju as the officer of Safety and Security and the governor of Gyeongsang-do, and led to its victory. He died in the line of duty ar Jinju official residence.
Hakbong Head House sits on a 2,000 pyeong (71,500 sq. ft) field with its Sadang, Sarangchae, Anchae, Daemunchae, Pungnoeheon, Unjanggak and Hakbong Memorial Hall.
The present lot "Keumgye" is called "Geomje" by local people. Since the early days of the Joseon Dynasty, the lot has been considered propitious with a thousand years of luck. Hakbong built the house at this lot at age 45.
